myCost
The price of that new plasma TV is $2,600, but how much will it really cost you?
myCost helps you understand the true cost of your purchases. While other apps may tell you how much you have paid, or how much interest you will be paying, myCost™ provides insight that helps you make better decisions before you buy.
As opposed to the price, myCost™ calculates the personal cost of any purchase, which is the time it takes you to earn the money needed to make the purchase. For example:
- Cost of new plasma TV = $2,600
- Your Hourly Wage = $16/hour (myCost calculates this if you are on salary or commission)
- So, to buy the new TV, you must work 162.5 hours!
myCost can also take this a step further by translating your personal cost based on an alternative metric. For example, how many months of your cable TV subscription at, say, $80/month you could buy in lieu of the plasma TV in the example above.
- Cost of new plasma TV = $2,600
- Cost of monthly cable TV subscription = $80
- So, instead of the new TV, you could buy 32.5 months (over 2 1/2 years) of your cable subscription!
